Have you ever seen the glorious views of the Lake District? Or glanced over Lake Windermere, when it shines with silver? Well I had an excellent time venturing around Cumbria, a small county flooded by miles and miles of vast hills.
YMCA lakeside instructors are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, trust me when you go you will really not want to come home, anytime soon. The calming sights are not hard to find, as all you have to do is take a small stroll through the forest or something as special as climbing one of the many hills. My favourite activity by far had to be the aerial runway. With stress, fear and anxiety I slowly clambered up the surprisingly steady- 10 meter-ladder. Pretending I was only a few steps off the ground, I carried on with my nerve -wracking trek which was soon to be completed (hopefully) I stretched my foot outwards to the platform to find, George wasn’t there waiting for me. Realizing I only had a couple more steps to go, I placed my foot back onto the ladder. I was now at the top of the ten meter tall tower, George clipped me on to the carabiner then he sat me down on the edge of the tower, I was so confident, until I looked down, my heart was pounding, my friends encouraging voices echoed in my ears. I closed my eyes, he blew the whistle whoosh I was flying everyone cheered me on, my anxiety was instantly replaced by relief I didn’t die after all as I reversed I saw all of my friends preparing for my rescue then I touched the ground it was wonderful Another one of my favourite activities was the climbing and abseiling first I did abseiling but some of us didn’t. My abseiling experience was very scary, at first I didn’t want to but my friends ended up convincing me so I ended up doing it anyway. To be honest it bad until I slipped and landed face down on the rock and rolled across it, it was very scary. Also one of my most memorable experiences at lakeside was kayaking. Since I had never kayaked or capsized before I was very hopeful. We had a very amazing instructor (tom)he was very encouraging with us and we played lots of fun games: change, catch the duck and navigation. This year’s lakeside trip I will remember forever and I’m pretty sure everyone else will as well. I enjoyed every activity but the highlight of my trip was definitely the aerial runway. And a big thanks to George, Ros and Al. I had an amazing time and I definitely to visit again.
