Be prepared to be terrified! Or at least impressed with our story telling and camera angles. Chestnut Class have been learning to be more precise in their language when describing characters and settings. We have used the Write Brothers unit of work, which they developed in collaboration with the Literacy Shed, to discover how to do this better. We have focused on the use of 'show not tell' to build tension and create a stronger atmosphere. We took our writing skills and created a short trailer using iMovie. As well as being great fun; it helped us understand how to structure a story. Please comment if you enjoy our trailers.

As we pulled up in the huge coach- we had the most amazing sight of Lake Windermere surrounded by towering hills in Cumbria. The first thing that caught my eye was the gargantuan houses and vast hills.
Although I enjoyed everything at the amazing place my favourite activity was raft building because I love being in and on the water. First we got all the equipment- surprisingly we managed to get everything! After that we made the frame, we learnt a new knot and tied the poles together. Finally we lifted t in the beautiful lake and placed the barrels underneath to keep it floating. It was great fun and we managed to stay dry until Charlie pushed me in! I also loved the king swing because you have an adrenaline rush at the start. I got my harness on and patiently waited. Before I knew it my go had come- I stepped onto the ladder and got strapped into the swing, my team began heaving me up higher and higher until I got to the top! I floated there for a few seconds I tugged the black leaver and then zoom I was flying and then I got lower and lower until I reached the ground, I loved it This year’s lakeside trip was memorable for many reasons: great food not the best sleep and amazing instructors. |
