The boy stood upright on his noble stallion grasping his weapon in hand tightly with a crucifix in his pocket ready. His battle scared armour barely covered his back, or any part of my body, really.
The unidentified timber creature locked his focus onto the boy. It changed course from the village to the knight. It dragged its legs through the ground over to him “Surrender or die, puny man!” He bellowed deceitfully. “I’d rather die one thousand deaths then surrender.” He replied. “So be it...” The boy leapt off the barely-standing cliff-edge. Bravely, he swung his weapon at the mighty beast. A spark flew onto the timber- creature’s leg. The boy laughed.

Be prepared to be terrified! Or at least impressed with our story telling and camera angles. Chestnut Class have been learning to be more precise in their language when describing characters and settings. We have used the Write Brothers unit of work, which they developed in collaboration with the Literacy Shed, to discover how to do this better. We have focused on the use of 'show not tell' to build tension and create a stronger atmosphere. We took our writing skills and created a short trailer using iMovie. As well as being great fun; it helped us understand how to structure a story. Please comment if you enjoy our trailers.
Have you ever wanted sights better than any before? Lakeside’s the place for you. After the coach ride, you’re greeted with luxury tents! The tents have deep mats for sleeping. And a wooden floor, so if that’s not enough, there’s a layer to keep the unwanted rain out! The king swing. It was amazing I was being strapped in already, then there it was. CLICK. I was already being lifted. And the click came back to me. I pulled back the lever back and WOOSH. I was flying through the air, begging for another try. I loved them all, however this was the best. The Aerial Runway I marched slowly across the stone path, to the runway. I pushed the cart to anyone who was going down, like a fireman, or a thunderbird. Once I was on, I thought, “It won’t break on me, right?” I fell on accident, then opened my eyes and shouted with joy, just like the king swing, I begged for one more try. I truly loved it. Bush Craft I tiny bit calmer than all the other activities. After building a den with 3 other people, called: Charlie, Oscar and Toby. (The first two may have knocked it down.) And it was Great. After we lit fires, 4th try I got it. I’m proud. Going Home. Once it was time to go home, I looked at the coach starting up, I lifted up the heaviest bag onto the coach I sat down and got some sleep, or tried. It was all amazing, except the bus rides, though. They’re really dull and tedious. Arriving Home The most memorable thing for me though, was on the king swing was the one moment of excitement when your legs are just dangling in the air. Then you fly down through the air when your friend are cheering you on, I’ll never forget it. It was awesome. |
