Rain, rain go away... We have been so lucky this year with the weather, the rain this morning was light and cleared completely by the time we started our activities. There was even sunshine in the afternoon. Group A finally went kayaking, they've had an amazing time. Everyone in Chestnut class became confident kayaker so in just one session. The instructors had the perfect games to build confidence. Group B all went on the aerial runway, in fact once again everyone in the class had a go. Group C were amazing on the obstacle course making mature decisions and working extremely well as a group. At last, bushcraft! This is one of my favourite activities at Lakeside and today was really special: there was no rain, no tarps, the woods are beautiful and everyone worked so well together. George took Group C a long way into the forest and challenged them to make a shelter to spend the night in. With one piece of rope to secure the structure and one to secure children, they sourced everything they needed from the woods. The talk was fantastic, each listening to others ideas and agreeing a design as a group. The final teepee style shelter was big enough to fit the whole group and even contained an indoor bathroom.
