On a cold frosty Monday morning I went to cross country to support our school. We started walking down to the rec; I was walking with my friend Emily. We chatted the whole way but that didn’t matter. I had butterflies but I kept walking. When we got there we started warming up and then the first race went on. To keep us warm we cheered people on. Harvey won the first round, then it was Year 5 turn and they went rushing off to the 2nd lap. Florrie won that round. Then it was the Year 5 boy’s turn. We cheered everybody on but mostly our school, while we were waiting. We chatted a little (maybe a lot but that doesn’t matter) and after all the chatting we stretched. And got ready for our race it was only one more race to go until that we got warm and had a little snack so we don’t get hungry. But we didn’t eat a lot or else we would get a stich. It was so much fun there, but then the Year 5 boy’s race was over. So now it was my turn to race. We went to the start line and got in to our positions. Then the whistle blew and we began to run as fast as lightning. Even though it was my turn, I felt the butterflies in my stomach disappear. After my first lap I was exhausted, but I kept going all the way through my second lap. I saw Liberty and Ella in front of me and I raced to catch them up and I got a little encouragement of the adults. I could see Ella cross the finish line in 1st place then Liberty following behind in 2nd place and I knew I was going to be in 3rd place “victory”!!! I was so happy when I crossed the finish line but I could not feel my legs after that race. It took me a 3 days to recover properly. So now I have to face the next race now so that day I had to go to school for the first lesson. When we lined up to go to assembly. So then me and Ella, liberty and Libby we got are stuff and walked to the office and waited for liberty’s mum. Then we got in the car I went in the front but that didn’t matter well least I got to control the radio. Still I got to talk to my friends at the bake of the care and so we paled a lot off music. We lost track of time and we were already there. So we got our lunch and hade a little snack so we don’t get hungry. So after we had our snack we went to the meeting point so we put our mat down so our bags don’t get wet and then we started to walk around the race track but then we herd “the year 3 race is starting in 10 minutes” so we rushed to the finish line to get of the race track. As we waited for our turn we cheered people on after all that cheering it was our turn to race I had butterflies when I was walking to the start line it was pretty in tens so when the lade blew the whistle I raced to the front but then my legs were so tied some people over took me but I still was in the top ten and when I sore the finish line this girl moshed and over took me then I realised that they were handing out the envelops to the last person and that person was in front so I knew I was coming 11th but I still tried my best it made me laugh when I forgot to eat my lunch .I wasn’t even hungry so I went to my dad and we went back home. So I came 11th so now I am the 11th best runner in the county. That day was the best day ever. By Poppy
