Chestnut class got up really early for our visit to the Natural History Museum. Despite some pretty horrific tail backs we got there in good time and, having learned from the experience, left early to try and avoid more jams. - it didn't work.
Not wanting to lose a minute we soon got organised and walked around the dinosaur exhibition. Without a doubt, the highlight was the tyrannosaurus Rex. Although dinosaurs were not our focus, the pupils knew a surprising amount about them and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. After a short lunch, we went to the green zone to rendezvous with our booked instructor, who was called Gabriella. First of all, we found evidence of life and how it changed over 545 million years. We learnt that evolution is change over time. One floor up, we sorted some 'feet' and discovered how horses developed. Luckily, we all knew who Darwin was and volunteers gave a practical demonstration of the evolution of Darwin's finches. With lots of time left the groups found the answers to the key questions: where in the world are there earthquakes and volcanoes? What different types of volcanoes are there? What evidence is there to support the evolution theory? Tomorrow pupils will use what they learnt to answer those questions. I must admit I enjoyed my visit with my group far more than the one with my husband. The wonderful questions and enthusiasm they showed simply made my day. I must give a very big thank you to Mrs Sait, Mr Hough, Mrs Long, Mr Forde and Mr Tucker who all sat for hours on a hot coach, were terrific tour guides and enabled Chestnut Class to go on this trip.

This web page was easy to build - I simply used a web builder that had all the objects designed and ready to use. But web pages do not start looking like this. In ICT we are going to use the amazing Khan Academy site to learn how web pages are built from scratch using HTML. Click th image to go to the correct page.
